One initiative by the Infant Jesus parish in India on their approach to caring for our common home.
If we are serious about protecting Mother Earth from various environmental disasters in the future, it is important to invest our resources in preparing the present generation to face the future environmental challenges. At this stage, the kids are more open to change, and easy to mould their habits affecting the environment.
On the contrary, the mindset of majority of the adults is difficult to change, as it is said, “old habits die hard”. This is the one major reason why the governments are struggling with various environmental issues including waste management.
Pope Francis challenges us, “What kind of world do we want to leave for those come after us, to children now who are growing up? The questions not only concern the environment in isolation; the issue cannot be approached piecemeal” (Laudato Si)
Change for the better does not come by itself. As Mahatma Gandhi says, “be the change you want to see in the world”.
The parish of Infant Jesus Church and school organised a Best Tree Contest with more than 250 students participating.
The parish also prepared this simple, interactive awareness presentation for kids on the topic of bio-diversity click the link http://infantjesusjogeshwari.in/eco-session-2-for-kids-biodiversity/
